What have we been working on?
The last few months have been hectic for the team at Doctor Necrosis, and it’s been a couple of months since our last dev blog update (More information about this is on our Discord). Over the past few months, we have continued doing internal testing, revising core game systems, and adding new features and NPCs for the initial release.
This month we revised our game saving system to be more compact and future proof as the game progresses; this includes some helpful additions like saving your player’s location within the world. Our initial plan was to respawn you at your laboratory, but we knew this would be abused as a fast travel system. The new design now saves your location by which area or building in the world you are in, in the world.
We have also added crafting and research tables to the Doctor’s laboratory. Every item in the game now must be researched before it can be used in our crafting system so you can better plan which conditions each ingredient helps with since most ingredients help alleviate multiple ailments. All ingredients can be found in the Doctor’s journal, and if they need more research or what ailments they help alleviate or cure.

On top of new and upgraded game mechanics, we have been hard at work adding new NPCs to Foxglove Cove and getting our existing ones ready for launch by writing chat lines, introductions, making sprite modifications, and giving each one their own unique personality. If you missed any of their debuts you can find them on our social media!
What’s Next?
We will be releasing updates throughout the entire development process and posting gameplay videos whenever possible as we lead up to our demo release.
